As time goes by I've found myself looking
for ways to automate or "make my life easier" type solutions. Enter
the Calcium reactor, the top off unit, the electronic timers, etc. While
the idea of an "All-in-one" controller system was intriguing, the price points
usually made me cringe until I saw the Aquatronica Unit. The USB standard,
the European (Italian) design and the general look of it seemed to match my
needs nicely!
Finding information on the Aquatronica was
difficult. The Official Website didn't
have the nitty gritty I was looking for and forum conversations on Reef Central just didn't seem to be illustrative enough. I decided to contact
the source (I'm in Canada).
Aquarium Obsessed is the official
North American distributor for these systems and they answered all my questions
regarding the system (the truth is I cornered Will online one weekend and forced
him to put up with my interrogation. :0) Here's what the back end of my aquarium
used to look like:

Greetings! I have been into the saltwater
aquarium hobby for some time now. Throughout my years, I've tried
many different products in all categories including lighting, skimmers, pumps,
etc. so I consider myself fairly experienced (as much as anyone can be in this
ever-changing, dynamic hobby).
I ordered a controller,
powerbar, two PH meters, a level sensor (for top off) and a Salinity
meter.

If you look
towards the center of the image (click for high-res image), you'll see that I
had a temperature display, salinity monitor, tunze top off system and two PH
meters (one to measure Calcium Reactor effluent). I sold off all of these
items so I could consolidate these functions into a single unit - The
Aquatronica.
The back end of my aquarium now looks like this:
